Chapter 4: Suspension: Introduction

The Oldsmobile G-body suspension directly follows in the line of its predecessors -- an independent suspension in the front with two A-arms per wheel and coil springs. The shocks are located inside the coil springs and a stabilizer bar was directly mounted to the frame and the lower A-arms.

The rear suspension is of a standard 4-link design with two lower trailing arms and two upper trailing arms. Coil springs were located between the frame and the axle. A rear stabilizer bar, standard with Cutlass Calais and included with the F41 heavy-duty suspension package, is mounted between the lower control arms.
